St George And St Teresa Catholic Primary School

Dear Parents and Carers,

Last night the government announced the closure of all schools from Friday 20 March until further notice. St George and St Teresa School will close at 3:30pm on Friday 20th March.

Schools have been asked, where they can, to stay open for the children of key workers and vulnerable children in order to provide child care. We currently do not know what this child care provision will look like, this may, for example, be one or two schools in each local area who are act as a hub. We anticipate further guidance to follow shortly. Please remember, the government are trying to reduce the spread of the virus, so wherever possible people are being asked to stay at home and to socially distance themselves.

A message from Fr Rob,

The Cardinal announced today that public masses in Catholic Churches in England and Wales will be suspended after this Friday. Funerals, Weddings and Baptisms will take place with immediate family only. Please see the attached from the Bishops of England and Wales. At St George & St Teresa we plan to have masses at the usual times which will be live streamed, but without congregation. Financial Support for families: I have been asked by the LA to direct any families requiring information around financial support and assistance to the following website link https://www.solihull.gov.uk/benefits This website covers financial support and assistance with housing benefit, council tax support, information regarding welfare reforms including how to make a claim for universal credit. The website also has ‘support to success’ information which signposts to organisations who can help with various issues including debt management and budgeting. We are also looking into supporting any children who are on free school meals during any enforced school closure. If your child is in receipt of FSM, and you would like support for lunches during the enforced closure, then please let the school office know.

Packs of Work

A separate letter regarding packs of work will be sent to you by the end of the day Friday. If books and sheets have been sent home and your child is not at school, we will try to get work posted out to you.


We will be asking all children to take home their PE kits, pencil cases, musical instruments etc. by the end of the day tomorrow. If your child is at home sick, and has possessions left in school, we will put these to one side for collection later in the year.

It has been a very emotional day for the staff. We are really saddened by this news and we will miss the children terribly. We will do our best to keep in touch via the office email during the coming weeks.

Thank you again for your patience and support. This is not how we had envisaged ending the spring term.


A prayer for Hope

Heavenly father, I am your humble servant, I come before you today in need of hope. There are times when I feel helpless, There are times when I feel weak. I pray for hope. I need hope for a better future. I need hope for a better life. I need hope for love and kindness. Some say that the sky is at its darkest just before the light. I pray that this is true, for all seems dark. I need your light, Lord, in every way. I pray to be filled with your light from head to toe. To bask in your glory. To know that all is right in the world, as you have planned, and as you want it to be. Help me to walk in your light, and live my life in faith and glory. In your name I pray, Amen.
