Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

Welcome to our Early Year’s page.

We are a happy and successful EYFS, committed to providing the highest quality of education possible whilst embracing a Catholic ethos.  We firmly believe that children should live and learn in a happy, secure and stimulating environment, a place where they are valued as individuals, encouraged to grow in self–esteem and given the opportunities they deserve to reach their potential.

Our EYFS consists of Nursery, Reception Class and our Wrap Around and extended day service known as Dragons.  We are very much a team who work closely together in planning the curriculum for our children and meeting their needs in the best way possible. Transition between Nursery, Wrap Around and Reception Class is seamless.  Mrs Connolly is our experienced EYFS lead.  She oversees the experiences that your child will receive and works closely with the team to ensure that our children make pleasing progress and are ready for their next steps in learning including their transition to Year 1.

Our EYFS offers flexibility and choice to meet the needs of working parents and those seeking to extend their child’s experiences in a quality setting.

Our Dragons facility offers options for Breakfast, Wrap Around and After School Care.  It is managed by the School Governing Body and provides a safe, engaging and caring environment enabling our children to make independent choices as well as develop valuable life skills. Dragons operates between the hours of 7:55am – 8:55am, 11:50am – 3:30pm and 3:30pm – 6.00pm, making available a variety of healthy meals and a wide range of interesting, age appropriate resources and equipment.

Our school is offering the additional government entitlement of 30 hours free Early Years education each week.  The first 15 hours of free early education will be provided in the Nursery. The further 15 hours, which is subject to employment criteria, will be provided in our extended day care in Dragons and will follow the EYFS statutory guidance in conjunction with our Nursery.

There is a wealth of information in our Starting School Booklet, which will give you a flavour of our wonderful Foundation Stage.
