Dunfield House 2023

Day One

We arrived safely just after 11.30am and had a good tour of the house.  We all enjoyed a huge jacket potato with a choice of baked beans, tuna, cheese and salad for our lunch, follwed by a cookie and melon.  To walk off our lunch, we donned wellies and went on a long walk up steep hills, through fields of sheep.  The children then worked really hard on making their own beds and had some time to enjoy their rooms.  Tea was another feast of pasta bolognese and garlic bread, followed by arctic role.  The weather has been damp on and off but fortunately is stopped for our night walk and we were able to enjoy a wonderful fire, with songs and toasted marshmallows.

The children changed into their pyjamas and were treated to a hot chocolate and home-made shortbread whilst a story was read to them.  There's still quite a lot of movement at 10pm but hoping that it will all be quiet very soon!  Not many photos taken today as it's been very busy!  More photos will follow tomorrow.

Day 2

It was an eventful evening last night, with 3 children . It was all quiet by midnight!!

We woke up to a dry morning, so the children had a great run around before breakfast.  The children devoured bowls of cereal, a cooked breakfast consisting of sausage, hash browns and baked beans, followed by toast, fruit and yoghurt!!  After breakfast the children split into their classes to complete their Art Kapow unit, involving lots of paint and clay.  They then enjoyed a drink and biscuit and another run around, before splitting up again to take part in a Music workshop consisting of African drumming and some team sports activities.

For lunch, we all enjoyed chicken, chips and peas followed by a blueberry muffin.  This afternoon, the children frolicked in the stream for about an hour in the sunshine!  Then their whole body got wet in the pool!  Tea consisted of jumbo fish fingers, mashed potato and vegetables, followed by jam sponge and custard.  The children have all eaten so well, often having seconds and trying new things.

After tea, the children visited the unique tuck shop to spend their money and enjoyed the last of the sunshine on the terrace.  We then gathered together in the recreation hall for a Lenten prayer service, ending in the children collaborating on a final art piece to remind us of our visit.

Cosy in their pyjamas, the children have had a drink of hot chocolate and a piece of flapjack whilst listening to a story.  Here's hoping for it to be all quiet a bit earlier tonight.
