Key Worker Info - URGENT19 March 2020 (by Michelle Flanagan (s86mflanagan)) |
Dear Parents/Carers
As you will no doubt be aware, the Prime Minister has announced plans for schools to remain open for children of key workers and those children who are most vulnerable. In order for us to assess our capacity to do this it is important that we gather as much information as possible to support our decision making and planning.
We are asking all parents who are key workers from the list below to let us know if you consider yourself a key worker and need your child to attend school. We would like to stress that we are at present uncertain what this service would look like, but we are clear that it is most likely to be supervised activities and not direct teaching. This service may only be available if both parents are key workers and it may not be delivered at this school. This is something we are still awaiting advice on and clarification. However, it would be useful for us to know if you are a key worker, as support may be needed in the long term.
At the moment our understanding is that key workers include:
- Social Workers
- NHS Employees
- Prison Officers
- Emergency Services Employees
- Delivery Drivers
- Care Home Workers
- Teachers and child care staff
- Armed Forces
- Others
We are awaiting further clarification of the term key worker and will provide further clarity once we have it. It is however important that we begin this process immediately in order for us to plan effectively. Therefore can you please all reply to this email if you need childcare ASAP and no later than Thursday 19th March at 4pm. We will assume that parents who do not reply are able to arrange childcare if their child is not at school.
Please note that we will be directly contacting parents/carers/guardians of children who come under the vulnerable category.
Many thanks for your continued support.
